Slide Ukulele Tuning
Slide Ukulele Tuning
Slide ukulele tuning is G, C, E, A#. When strummed open, you will hear C7 chord.
You can slide into a note and out of a note. When you start a phrase you can slide into a note. If you want to give a phrase a cool ending, then you just slide out. In order to do so, you will need to find and buy a slide that fits your finger, so that it won’t fall off . Therefore, it is important to get the right size. Make sure that your slide is not too long and fits the width of ukulele fretboard. Consider the hardness. Too soft slide will result in too short sustain, as the vibrations will get absorbed. From another hand, a too hard slide will create a string noise.
Common Slide Materials
The material a slide is made from is an important factor too. The most common materials in slide-making are: metal (brass or steel), ceramic and glass.
Metal slides
Metal slides are hard, therefore they create a bright tone and large sustain.
Glass slides
Glass slides are soft and they make warm tone and short sustain.
Ceramic slides
Ceramic slides are somewhere in between glass and metal slides. Therefore, ceramic slide is the ideal starting point.
